Emergency plans vs climate change. This is how they are managed!
Every day there is a study or negative trend with climate change, and despite past warnings, humanity has not understood that it is our job to make climate change decrease,
In an open letter, six scientists stated that the world has very little time before the worst changes caused by climate change occur.
Among the signatories are the France Mobile Number List physicist Stefan Rahmstorf and Christiana Figueres, former UN chief for climate change.
The said document was published in 2017, and urged governments, companies, scientists and citizens to reduce greenhouse gas emissions immediately. For them, the reduction had to occur constantly until 2020, before the threshold of being irreversible is reached.
Among the consequences that could be recorded are rapid deforestation, flooding due to rapid rise in sea level, and unpredictable weather changes.
The scientists made a list of 6 goals to follow until 2020:
30% of electricity consumption comes from renewable energy.
Create a plan for cities and states to transition away from fossil fuel energy by 2050.
15% of all new vehicles will have to be electric.
Reduce emissions caused by deforestation.
Have a plan to reduce emissions caused by deforestation by half by 2050.
Encourage the financial sector to issue more “green bonds” to support climate change mitigation efforts.
These points go against what is proposed by the administration of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, who thinks that climate change does not exist.
"We are facing the possibility of being able to reduce the emissions curve by 2020, as science demands, to protect the UN sustainable development goals and, in particular, to eradicate extreme poverty," Figueres said in a statement.
Scientists encourage cities and states to comply with the Paris Accords, even if they do not have the support of the US government.
